Natural Pigment Screen Printing Workshop (Part 1)

In this BIPOC centered workshop, you’ll learn how to process plant material to create your own screen prints. This is a 2 day workshop over the course of 2 Saturdays. (You must be available for both Saturdays.)

All materials will be provided.
What we’ll cover:

  • How to process plant material to make powder pigment (Day 1)

  • How to turn that powder pigment into screen printing pigment (Day 2)

  • The basics of screen printing (Day 2)

What you’ll take home:

  • Any powdered pigments left over that you processed

  • Any screen printing pigment that you processed

  • Your screen that you used to print your image(s)

  • The final project you printed

  • New skills to use for the rest of your life


*The cost= $75- $200 (sliding scale)

*The cost is sliding scale. Partial funding for this workshop has been provided by the Black Fiber & Textile Network to help reduce costs. However if you can pay the full cost, it would be greatly appreciated as it will cover the remaining portion not covered by BFTN.

Registration is needed to attend. Last day to register is December 31, 2025.

Natural Pigment Workshop (Youth) (2 day workshop)

This is a FREE workshop.

(Donations are welcomed to facilitate future workshops if you feel inclined.)

This is a two day introductory workshop that will focus on how to use food waste and/ or natural plant matter to create pigments that can be used in a variety of ways. Ex: to make paints, pastels, etc. The workshop is for any youth, but BIPOC youth will be prioritized. (There will be another workshop for adults on another date.) This workshop is a reclamation practice. Restoring lost practices and information, and allowing it to live and grow through future generations. If you or your child are not of BIPOC decent, please wait until Friday (Jan. 31) to enroll. There is limited space.

Location: 325 W 2nd St Room 107

(located on the northside and inside of building 2, there is a yellow sign with my name on the fence)

*Attendance for BOTH days is necessary (Feb. 1 10am- 12pm and Feb. 2 10am- 12pm)
