Immediate Needs:

Natural Pigment Residency: I’m working to learn how to apply the techniques I already do, to natural materials (most of which I’m trying to grow myself). There is a severe learning curve, but there are opportunities to received instruction from masters. I am currently working to attend a residency in Oaxaca, Mexico where I will learn the skills I need in order to do the art I want to do. Costs include: the residency itself, travel, food, and any additional materials I might pick up or need along the way.

Residency in France. Later this year I’ll be attending a residency in France. I’ll be taking the time to focus on producing new work. Donations will go towards the residency fees, airfare, and supplies.

Semi-immediate Needs:

Our eldest child is preparing to expand his horizons by traveling on two international school trips next year. Our goal is that our hardships will never impact his ability to do the things that he wants to do. Travel experience is essential to becoming a empathetic and cultured citizen. If you agree and would like to support this, there are two fundraisers, one for each trip.

If you’d like to support these trips AND take advantage of the AZ tax credit follow these steps. (Not applicable for Japan trip.)

Ongoing Support Opportunities:

I’m constantly looking to gain more information, so that I can become a proficient support worker, herbalist, and artist. Now that I’ve had the opportunity to take numerous trainings and courses, I know which questions I want answered. That means lots of self led study. If you’d like to support those efforts, here’s my professional development wishlist. There are links to businesses not found on Amazon for gift cards, if you’d like to get me a gift card you can send it to: info@adiajamille.com

As an artist I am working from a framework of liberation through joy. My work focuses on reconnecting Black folks, specifically Black Americans, with the pieces of them that lay dormant, awakening them will allow the opportunity to reconnect with peace. I am currently building an exhibit that will require lots of materials, fabric, indigo, seeds, image printing, community participation, etc. If you’d like to fund Black art, donations would go towards a cotton gin, dyeing materials, seeds for growing dyeing materials, books to learn what I need to learn, bookmaking supplies, etc. I also need temporary exhibition space if you have access and would like to support that way.

Support Black Art

I recently started receiving grant funding for a future art exhibition (date/ location tbd) called "Ancestral Tethers". It will be an exploration of the what ties Black Americans to the continent and to each other. I'm using lots of traditional processes related to fiber arts, photos, seeds, and handmade books. For the books I'm making a directory of establishments around the US where Black folks find refuge. A new "green book" centering joy. (If you want to contribute to the directory, please fill out this form. (This part is for Black folks only, thank you for minding my boundaries.)
